Includes the amount of outstanding subordinated notes and debentures (including mandatory convertible debt). Massachusetts mutual savings banks and cooperative banks that have issued subordinated notes and debentures to the Mutual Savings Central Fund or the Cooperative Central Bank under the terms of capital assistance agreements should include the outstanding balance of such subordinated debt in this item. NOTE: Beginning 3/31/94, reported in Schedule RC - Balance Sheet, for the FR 2886B report. COMPARABILITY: Prior to 3/31/90, title name was "Notes and Debentures Subordinated to Deposits". Prior to 3/31/84, title name was "Subordinated Notes and Debentures". Beginning 12/31/82, this item on the SVGL report is a derived item which included "Subordinated Debentures Not Qualifying for Net Worth (0686)" and "Qualifying Subordinated Debentures (3272)". Prior to 3/31/76, this item was named "Capital Notes and Debentures" and was reported in capital accounts. Beginning that date, item was moved to liabilities and retitled "Subordinated Notes and Debentures" for the purpose of adhering more closely to accepted financial reporting treatment. This change has no affect on bank supervisory treatment of these notes for purposes of capital adequacy analysis for banks.
