Data Description:
Includes the total amount of outstanding debt that obligates the holder to take the common or perpetual preferred stock of the issuer in lieu of cash for repayment of principal and that qualifies as primary or secondary capital proceeds from the issuance of stock dedicated to redeem such notes. This amount should reflect all such qualifying debt regardless of whether the total exceeds the maximum amount of equity contract notes that may be counted as primary capital. (The maximum amount of equity contract notes that may be counted as primary capital is limited to 20 percent of primary capital, exclusive of mandatory convertible debt, except where a larger percentage has been grandfathered.) Note: For reporting periods 85/06 and 85/12 this item represents equity contract rates, net for the BHC series.
