Data Description:
Includes all pledged or unpledged equity securities, including those sold subject to a reverse repurchase agreement. Report as an amount equal to the amortized cost of equity securities held as of December 10, 1984, plus the unamortized purchase price of equity securities acquired after December 10, 1984. Do not deduct valuation allowances or make any adjustments due to partial write-offs.
Also includes:
1. Investments in stocks, certificates of interest or participation in profit-sharing agreements, collateral- trust certificates, pre-organization certificates or subscriptions, transferable shares, investment contracts, or voting-trust certificates;
2. Interests or instruments commonly known as equity securities;
3. Securities immediately convertible into other securities reportable on this line at the option of the holder of the holder without payment of substantial additional consideration;
4. Securities carrying a warrant or right to purchase such a security; and
5. Detached warrants or rights to purchase such securities.
Excludes:
1. Investments in stock issued by a FHLBank, FHLMC, FNMA, or a corporation authorized to be created pursuant to Title IX of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968;
2. Securities issued by any open-end management investment company (mutual funds) registered under the Investment company Act of 1940 the portfolio of which is subject to the restrictions set forth in Section 5(c)(1)(Q) of the Home Owners Loan Act;
3. Securities issued by subsidiaries, including finance subsidiaries; or
4. Securities acquired through foreclosure or settlement in lieu of foreclosure.
