Data Description:

Includes cash dividends paid during the quarter on capital instruments reported in items 3489, 5798, and 0475. These dividends are not charged to interest expense.

Also includes dividends declared on preferred stock reported in item 3489; dividends declared on common stock reported in item 5798; income payments accrued on funded ICCs reported in item 0475; and dividends declared on perpetual preferred stock of consolidated subsidiaries reported in item 0475.

Excludes stock dividends or stock splits. The amounts reported reduce retained earnings. They should be reported as positive numbers and not enclosed in brackets or otherwise indicated as negative numbers.
