MMLF: A Committee on Uniform Securities Identification Procedures (CUSIP) number identifies most financial instruments, including stocks of all registered U.S. and Canadian companies, commercial paper, and U.S. government and municipal bonds. CUSIP numbers consist of nine characters, including letters and numbers, that uniquely identify a company or issuer and the type of financial instrument. SMCF: Unique identifier for all securities TALF: Security identification number for the U.S. and Canada. The Committee on Uniform Security Identification Procedures (CUSIP) number consists of nine alpha-numeric characters. The first six characters identify the issuer, the following two identify the issue, and the final character is a check digit. CUSIP stands for Committee on Uniform Securities Identification Procedures. A CUSIP number identifies most securities, including (1) stocks and debt of all SEC-registered U.S. companies and (2) U.S. government and municipal bonds. The CUSIP system, owned by the American Bankers Association and operated by Standard & Poor's, facilitates the clearing and settlement process of securities. For RSSD purposes, the number consists of six characters (including letters and numbers) that uniquely identify a company or issuer and the type of security.
