A two-digit numeric code assigned to the consolidated metropolitan statistical area (CMSA) in which the entity is physically located. These codes define an area with more than 1 million in population that meets certain other specified requirements. They consist of major components recognized as primary metropolitan statistical areas (PMSA's).
