Data Description:

A one-digit code indicating whether or not an entity has the largest total assets of all of the federally insured U.S.-chartered entities under a common regulatory high holder.

0 = Entity is not the largest in the BHC (RSSD9348)

1 = Entity is the largest in the BHC (RSSD9348)

The Attributes and the Derived Items Tables are joined to retrieve all entities with CHTR_TYPE_CD = 200, 210, 250, 300, 310, 320, or 340 that have common regulatory high holders (REG_HH_1_ID).

The CALL and SVGP Archival files are used for the appropriate quarter to retrieve total assets (RCFD2170 or SVGC2170) for each entity within a common high holder. Total assets is retrieved from the CALL Archival file first and SVGP second, since in rare instances, an entity could be on both files. (CALL has priority over SVGP.) CHTR_TYPE_CD = 200, 210, 250, 300, and 320 may be found on the CALL files while CHTR_TYPE_CD = 300, 310, and 320 may be found on the SVGP files. Note that CHTR_TYPE_CD = 300 and 310 may be found on both files.

This field is updated quarterly approximately 90 days after the end of each calendar quarter. Since updating to this field will occur on a delayed basis, rows may have to be split and changes carried forward until the next Call data are available. If the regulatory high holder changes between Call updates, possible changes to this field will not get made until the next update. Due to resource constraints, this field has not been carried back historically.
