Includes all other futures and forward contracts that are not included in item 3415 (item 28 on the report form). Included are future and forward interest rate contracts (e.g., U.S. Treasury securities futures, forward rate agreements and forward agreements on U.S. government securities) and future and forward contracts on other commodities, (e.g., stock index and commodity contracts). Reported is the aggregate par value of all future and forward contracts that are related to an interest-bearing financial instrument or whose cash flows are determined by referencing interest rates or another interest rate contract. Includes futures and forward contracts committing the nonbank subsidiary to purchase or sell agricultural products (e.g., wheat, coffee), precious metals (e.g., gold, platinum), non-ferrous metals (e.g., copper, zinc) or any other commodity. Futures and forward contracts are agreements for delayed delivery of financial instruments or other commodities in which the buyer agrees to purchase and the seller agrees to deliver, at a specified future date, a specified instrument or commodity at a specified price. Futures contracts are standardized, transferable agreements traded on organized exchanges that act as the counterparty to each contract. Forward contracts are not standardized and are not traded on organized exchanges. The contract amount reported for futures and forward contracts on commodities is the quantity, e.g., number of units, of the commodity or product contracted for purchase or sale multiplied by the contract price of a unit.
