Miscellaneous Assets in Private 403b Plans is calculated in the following steps. First, Total Assets in All 403b Plans is calculated by dividing 403b Plan Mutual Fund Holdings (from ICI and CREF by the Share of Private 403b Assets Held in Mutual Funds (from DOL's Form 5500 Micro Data). Second, Miscellaneous Assets in All 403b Plans is calculated by multiplying Total 403b Assets with the Share of Private 403b Assets Held in Miscellaneous Assets (from DOL's Form 5500 Micro Data. Third, Private Share of Total 403b Assets is calculated by dividing Total Private 403b Plan Assets (from DOL's Form 5500 Bulletin) by Total Assets in All 403b Plans. Finally, Miscellaneous Assets in Private 403b Plans is calculated by multiplying Miscellaneous Assets in All 403b plans with Private Share of Total 403b Assets. When data is unavailable, data is extrapolated to the current quarter by assuming quarterly flows are equal to the five year average of flows.
